Position:              Facilities Electrical Technician
Reports To:         Sr. Manager, Engineering Services
Location:             Waltham, MA.
 
A123 Systems, LLC is a leading developer and manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries and battery systems for the transportation and commercial markets.

Primary responsibilities
This position is responsible for the repair, installation and preventative maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facility electrical systems using blueprints, manuals, and written instructions.  The technician will also troubleshoot, repair, install, and inspect a wide variety of process and mechanical equipment. Perform daily rounds and readings on all facilities electrical equipment and monitor the building management system. Select, hire and oversee maintenance and repair contractors when necessary. Plan, schedule and communicate facility maintenance and modifications to the organization, The Facilities Technician will also be expected to provide general repair support to mechanical systems and facility items using basic hand and power tools.
 This position will be based in Waltham with responsibilities in one other location (Hopkinton, Massachusetts).

Specific Skills/Abilities
The position requires attention to detail.  The successful candidate must exercise sound judgment and work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a small team. Must be able to lift 30 lbs and work at elevated heights. Prior experience with industrial facilities and a working knowledge of clean room/dry room protocols and practices is a plus. The successful candidate will be resourceful and have excellent interaction skills.

Education/Experience
  • Perform safe work practices according to state occupational standards.
  • Massachusetts Electrical License
  • Working knowledge of mass electrical codes
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to read and understand blue prints
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Minimum 5 years industrial experience
  • High energy, results driven and hands-on
  • Must be able to adapt to change
  • Must have working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC systems
  • PLC knowledge is a plus
  • Must possess strong problem solving skills as well as general knowledge of building design and construction maintenance
