Position Overview
The NBO Technical Lead Applications is release responsible for High Voltage and/or Low Voltage battery pack assemblies.  He or she is responsible for compiling customer technical requirements; translating these into internal engineering requirements; driving those requirements into the design organization; and coordinating the activities of mechanical, electrical, systems and validation engineering teams throughout the program. The pack applications engineer lead also acts as the primary engineering technical interface with the customer.

Primary responsibilities
  • Actively drive projects to deadlines
  • Act as the primary engineering interface to both internal and external customers
  • Collect customer requirements, evaluate compliance, and note areas of non-conformance and/or opportunities for requirements modification
  • Develop battery performance specifications
  • Create battery pack Interface and Control Documents
  • Release battery pack engineering documents, drawings, etc. into corporate system
  • Create and manage pack DFMEA and DVP&R / Develop test specifications for product verification
  • Support manufacturing plant in resolving build issues related to pack design
  • Support customer integration efforts through appropriate means, such as conference calls, data log analysis, and travel to customer sites
  • Coordinate activities of engineering teams to resolve issues
  • Develop and maintain realistic project milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Track and report project status
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope
  • Ensure team follows established development processes
  • Contribute to process improvement activities
  • Follow and improve upon best practices and tools for project execution and management
Specific Skills/Abilities
Solid problem solving and trouble-shooting skills and experience a plus
Working knowledge of engineering tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe and CAD viewers
Experiencing with creating DVP&Rs and DFMEAs
Experience in releasing products
Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
Flexibility during times of change
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Strong interpersonal, including customer interface skills
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in an occasionally high-pressure environment
Experience with Electric Vehicles and/or low voltage/high voltage systems a plus
Experience taking products from concept to production
OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience a plus
 
Education/Experience
BSEE/BSME and 5+ years of automotive engineering experience
MSEE/MSME degree preferred
5+ years direct exposure in product releasing and familiarity in related fields of LV and/or HV automotive power a plus
 
Work Environment
5+ years Fast-paced development environment
25% +   /  Extensive travel required
