SW Test Engineer
Main intention of this document is to explain required and expected activities for the role of SW Test engineer. The scope of the test includes and is limited to software unit testing and software integration testing.
Primary responsibilities
  • Support SW Test Lead in the development and maintenance of test strategy e.g. documentation of strategy, developing templates, naming convention, traceability mechanism, etc.
  • Perform activities related to the setting up and maintenance of the test tools including but not limited to setting up project specific configuration, workspace, and configuration management of projects, scripts, reports, etc.
  • Perform reviews of test scripts and tool configuration
  • Develop test case and test scripts based on the input documentation
  • Review the input documentation (SW Architecture, SW Design) and provide critical feedback to improve the quality of the input document
  • Review, summarize and classify the results of test reports
  • Identify risks for the test activities
  • Interface with the project leads to understand and plan the required deliverables and timelines of the deliverables
  • Support SW Leads in discussion with customer or other external teams relating to the test activities
  • Assign tasks to the offshore team and monitor their work products
  • Review the progress of the team against the project deliverables
  • Effort estimation(Time, resource, tools) for test activities
     
    Minimum Role Requirements
  • BSCS/EE or equivalent and 3+ years of software development experience
  • Experience in a test focused team for 2+ years
  • Minimum one year experience with automation test tools
  • Intermediate C programming experience
  • Good understanding of test methodologies
  • Experience with requirement based testing, MC/DC
  • Embedded systems experience is required
  • Familiarity with project change and configuration management software, such as Jira, SVN, Clear Case, Clear Quest, PVCS or Change Synergy
  • Ability to prioritize the allocated work
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Automotive networking protocols and respective test tools like CAN, LIN, UDS, OBD, etc
  • Experience with software maturity models, such as CMMi or Automotive SPICE is preferred
  • Knowledge of ISO26262 is preferred
  • Experience working with offshore teams is preferred
