Linux Administrator 
 
Stratacache is seeking a Linux Administrator to help maintain and scale our environment to meet the demands of a very quickly growing business.  This role will be focused on architecting and deploying a system monitoring and alerting platform to replace an aging and inaccurate Zabbix deployment.  The person selected for this role ideally has experience maintaining and growing a system monitoring platform previously, even better if deployed or helped deploy such a platform. Once deployed and functional, this role will be assigned other system administration duties as required.
 
 
Core Responsibilities:
  • Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service
  • Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
  • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
  • Maintain, update, manage and scale several VMware environments built on vSAN
  • Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
  • Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers
  • Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
  • Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
 
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years Linux Administrator
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar relevant degree, or equivalent professional experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability administering a system monitoring and alerting tool (eg, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Nagios, Icinga, etc.)
  • Familiarity with database concepts with MySQL and/or MariaDB
  • Familiarity with VMWare with vSAN as well as commercial SAN management and concepts
  • Experience in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting
  • Working knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills with the ability to identify pain points and suggest project to remedy them

Shift: Standard Business Hours
