Business Insights and Analytics - Senior Consultant
Do you enjoying managing a pipeline of analytics-driven and data science-focused projects and related client interactions?  Do you enjoy analyzing data, discovering insights, drawing conclusions and telling stories from your results?  Are you interested in the future of retail, commerce and customer analytics?    If so, this is the role for you.  In this role you will have the opportunity to work with software engineering, sales and product organizations to develop innovative and impactful applications for data, analytics and insights.  Your efforts will enhance the overall product quality utilizing many aspects of data analysis,  including various types of statistical modeling that drive toward strategic analytics.  You will be focused on the future of the retail experience by discovering insights while creating strategic, marketing, retail, customer experience and digital analytics. Your background in data discovery, data science, big data, visualization, business problem analysis and analytics consulting will be very beneficial as you take on this exciting new position in the company.  In this role you will also have the opportunity to continue to build and improve the marketing of technology products that are influenced by data, understand human behavior and determine how to influence and impact the retail marketplace with exciting new solutions and insights.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage data and analytic solution deliverable projects and pipelines for quality assurance and successful completion.
  • Provide direction to product managers and engineers using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover new product and customer opportunities.
  • Provide analytical focus to uncover, design and implement useful business insights.
  • Collect and define data and analytical requirements and reporting strategies for programs.
  • Conduct data discovery and analysis to identify insights and opportunities.
  • Research and identify data trends and key business drivers.
  • Analyze performance metrics, business functions and operations to determine insights and recommendations to customers.
  • Create client impact presentations and reports to educate internal and external customers on solutions, insights and opportunities.
  • Present yourself in a professional way to clients, prospects and customers.
  • Offer new ideas for types of analyses and data visualizations to drive product innovation.
  • Collect and define metric-based requirements for customer pilot programs.
  • Design and build database-driven analytical solutions and dashboards.
  • Develop and prototype dashboards and visualizations to support client and customer needs.
  • Expertise handling sensitive, privacy-protected data, including sources, structures, organization and optimization.
  • Ensure accuracy of data and deliverables of reporting employees with comprehensive policies and processes.
  • Communicate ideas, processes and results to all levels of internal and external clients and teams
  • Collaborate and partner with team members on projects and solutions.
  • Keep up-to-date with emerging data science and statistical technologies, methods and practices.
  • Engage with third-party vendors and other groups as required.
  • Bachelor's degree required (Information Systems, Business and/or Computer Science preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience working with data or analytics, which includes big data.
  • Minimum 3 years providing direct management experience to data scientists and data analysts.
  • Proficiency with analytic, optimization, database and data visualization tools (SQL and at least one functional or statistical programming language).
  • Experience with digital advertising and mobile industries.
  • Experience working with retail clients.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in the retail industry from a data perspective.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Hands-on experience with Tableau Desktop
  • Hands-on experiences with other BI/visualization technologies including open source or proprietary.
  • Experience working with Postgres, Timescale DB and/or other related database technologies.
  • A solid understanding of methodology, data and systems from a broad range of research and analytics providers, including emerging tools and methods.
  • Experience and understanding of the following areas: strategic analytics, marketing analytics, digital analytics, data analytics, statistics, data science, big data, normalization, modeling, quant research, analytics consulting.
  • Ability to distill complex statistical concepts and methodology, and articulate insights to cross-functional teams and clients with varying levels of knowledge in this space.
  • Experience and understanding of various statistical modeling tools and platforms -- including R, SAS and SPSS -- is required.
  • Experience in ecommerce, wifi, app messaging, social and other datasets is beneficial.
  • Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence methods and practice is beneficial. 
  • Understanding and experience with database technologies is beneficial including Oracle, SQLServer, etc..
  • Understanding and experience with BI platform technologies is beneficial:  Tableau, Microstrategy, Microsoft, OBI, etc..
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, results-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to handle and adjust to change in requirements and direction.
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail and great problem solving skills are important.
  • Dynamic personality and passion for data, analytics, visualizations and storytelling is very important for this role.
  • Keen sense of user interface design, style, aesthetics and effective visual presentation.
  • Ability to articulate and tie data to business strategy.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with a team-centric focus while working in a fluid environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written and presentation
