Server Deployment Engineer

This incumbent will work with new and existing customers to ensure they are getting the most value from our software solutions.  The Server Deployment Engineer will be responsible for building our internal processes, develop test plans, and performing server installations, upgrades and migrations for our customers.    The Server Deployment Engineer will work closely with our customers and internal teams such as sales, engineering and product teams.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Record and maintain best practice information for server upgrade process and required server infrastructure resources for knowledge transfer to other departments within Scala and STRATACACHE sister companies
  • Develop full server migration plan including but not limited to: detailed project plan, test plan and test specifications.  Ability to present full server migration plan with professional business acumen to internal and external engineering teams
  • Develop internal UAT servers for testing customer migration path.  UAT server should replicate customers server infrastructure, data, pay load and use-case.  Perform multiple migrations on UAT servers noting errors and working with appropriate team members to resolve.  Update full server migration plan with results and perform server migrations on customers production environment.
  • Identify and address risk factors, changes in scope, and external dependencies, and implement innovative solutions to keep projects moving forward
  • Facilitate successful project execution by timely project completion, customer satisfaction and project profitability.
  • Work with Marketing, Product Managers, Professional Services and Development to understand the solutions and product directions and to communicate this information internally as needed
  • Perform other duties as requested

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors/Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Expert knowledge in Windows Server 2008+ OS administration, hardware, and software deployment
  • Experience deploying and maintaining highly-available and highly-secure Windows based servers, SAL databases and applications in a highly-available and highly-secure data center environments.
  • Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of software development and testing techniques, methodologies and best practices.
  • Scripting toolset experience and understanding such as PowerShell, Python and VBScript.
  • Exceptional organization, time management skills and multi-tasking skills.
  • Effective oral, writing, and presentation skills.
