Summary of Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a leader to join our Cincinnati office with the passion for delivering superior service and driving the long-term competitive success of Al. Neyer through a high-level human resource functionality. The Director will be accountable for the day-to-day operations of the human resource and office management functions of the entire company. Responsible for the development and implementation of human resource programs and policies; including recruitment, retention, benefit plans, employee engagement, and compliance employment practices and procedures. The Director will play an integral role in Al. Neyer achieving its overall organizational goals. 
Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and practices related to personnel matters and make recommendations to executive management for improvements to remain compliant and competitive. Communicate changes to policies and procedures to employee-owners and ensure compliance to these policies. 
  • Ensure internal processes are consistent and judicious in order to effectively manage employee-owners across departments and markets, and to ensure people processes and decisions are defensible. Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO or CFO, on personnel matters.
  • Accountable for company compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to employee benefits, compensation, employment, safety, and training. Responsible for remaining current with changes in human resources and employment law as well as manage company relationships with state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Oversight of the Talent Acquisition Manager in the sourcing and deployment of talent through direct and continuous engagement and best practices. Encourage attraction of new employee-owners who live by Al. Neyer’s core values and who will support our growth.
  • Administration of the compensation philosophy and integration of other programs to attract, retain, and develop highly engaged employee-owners. Remain current on industry trends and benchmarking.
  • Development, implementation, and oversight of a development and performance program to fully engage employee-owners, provide continuous feedback, and professional growth to ensure employee-owners are highly engaged and performing at their peak.
  • Manage employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, 401(k) plan, Personal Time Off (PTO), and sick leave administration. Ensure thorough understanding and compliance with federal, state, and local health and welfare programs mandated by law.
  • Develop, implement, and drive a comprehensive diversity, inclusion, and belonging program. 
  • Responsible for providing all tools, processes, polices, and information systems necessary to support the company and allow leaders to lead efficiently and effectively in order to reach organizational goals.
  • Management and development of the Office Manager, and oversight of the general corporate office functions to ensure an enjoyable work environment for all employee-owners across our footprint.
  • Accountable for standing up new offices and maintaining facilities to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Participate in annual budgeting process and variance analysis for expenses incurred by department.
  • Completes special projects and committee roles, as assigned. 
Position Requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and negotiate with diverse leadership across the construction, real estate development, finance, and corporate services teams.
  • Excellent organization skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines through self-organization and prioritization.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, benefits, compensation systems, professional development, and engagement programs.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality, and exhibit and reinforce Al. Neyer’s core values through personal action. 
  • Ability to travel to other markets at least two times per year or as needed. 
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, in related field preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in human resources leadership role across multiple offices or cities.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.  Certification is required to be maintained during employment.
  • Experience with Culture Index, Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), and comprehensive HRIS system.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, moderate physical effort is required to sit, stand at files, bend, stoop, lift, walk and climb.  Maximum unassisted lift is 70 lbs.  Average lift is less than 10 lbs.  Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor.  Also requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone.  May require some overnight travel by car or airplane.
Environmental Requirements
Average inside office environment.  Average office noise levels.  No personal protective equipment is required unless visiting an active construction job site.  Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
