Summary of Responsibilities
Are you a reasonably proactive person who likes to hone your craft in your area of expertise?  If so, we are looking for a driven Senior Accountant to join our growing team.  The Senior Accountant will work closely with internal team members to handle day-to-day accounting functions necessary to support a fast-paced company.  The accounting and finance team is specifically looking to improve our systems to be scalable and sustainable, which requires our team to be focused on process improvements and innovation while balancing accurate and timely financial reporting.

Essential Job Functions
  • Record monthly accounting journal entries and maintain general ledger for assigned functional areas and entities in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Oversight over the Accounts Payable Accountant and Co-Op to ensure all AP functions are operating effectively and most efficiently, reporting aged payables and metrics to leadership as well as inspire professional growth of accountant.    
  • Deposit all receipts, record transactions and communicate all receipts to construction and/or development team to determine related payables to release. 
  • Process all accounts receivable, management over late payment communications internally and report aged receivables to leadership team.
  • Forecast cash flow for the main operating company and assist CFO in the annual capital budget preparation.
  • Initiate electronic and check payments in accordance with company procedures for main operating company and various related party entities, including ownership over confirming insurance requirements are met before payment is released to construction subcontractors.
  • Set up, maintain and close all bank accounts including ensuring all required services are set up in order to guarantee smooth operations for closings, routine payments and other transactions.
  • Reconcile high volume bank account activity daily and prepare monthly bank reconciliations for assigned entities.
  • Prepare month end workpapers for assigned functional areas in accordance with policies, complete financial statements and analysis for assigned entities, including preparing consolidating financial statements where required.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and tax packages for Al. Neyer and other related party entities. 
  • Support the Controller to maintain accounting policies and procedures around all treasury management functions as well as ensure compliance through training and monitoring programs.
  • Special projects, as assigned.

Position Requirements
  • Enthusiastic, creative, and outgoing individual with the drive to take initiative and work both independently and interdependently with a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; communicate professionally with our internal customers at Al. Neyer, as well as external bankers, auditors, tax accountants, and insurance professionals.
  • Experienced in problem solving with ability to recognize issues and deal with them directly.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/webinars, reading professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizational.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college and prefer two years of accounting experience in public accounting or industry.  Real estate industry knowledge is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Spectrum is a plus, but not required.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
Physical Demands
Low physical effort required to sit, stand at files, bend, stoop, lift, and walk. Maximum unassisted lift is 35 lbs. Average lift is less than 10 lbs.  Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor. Also requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone. May require some travel by car.
Environmental Requirements
Average inside office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment is required. Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
