Responsible for the development, maintenance and execution of the demand planning process, driving SKU level forecast for each of the Company’s sales channels to be used by finance, supply chain, procurement and PPIC for planning and production.
  • Own the entire co-manufacturing and private brand demand plan synthesizing all inputs from sales, marketing, finance and supply chain function
    • Develop a plan that incorporates an item, customer and ship-to level (bottoms up forecast)
    • Develop the Company’s “bottoms up” sales forecast for inclusion in the Company’s overall financial plan
    • Develop five year plan based on annual financial plan updates
    • Develop short term plan with quarterly updates
    • Insure all promotional activity, new item launches, and other special events are incorporated into the network forecasts
  • Oversee the Planning team’s monthly customer and SKU level forecasts
  • Plan and manage the Sales & Operations Planning meetings driving consensus and getting sign-off on the demand plan
  • Deliver forecast accuracy that drives appropriate inventory levels as well as service levels that meet or exceed customer’s requirements
  • Have a full understanding of the Company’s business strategies and initiatives, and apply these towards the SKU level forecasts that drive the Company’s financial plan and inventory management
    • Incorporate upsides and risks from marketing team
    • Stay current with Sales and Key Account managers
  • Lead the understanding of demand vs. capacity, identifying the potential for demand to exceed capacity both short and long term
  • Proactively identify potential service issues
  • Assume responsibility for own personal development and continuous learning.
  • Keep abreast on new technology, methods and regulations related to responsibilities
  • Practice customer intimacy with internal and external customers in day to day responsibilities
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  (To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required).
  • Education: B.A./B.S. in finance, supply chain, economics or related field.  MBA preferred5+ years of related experience in demand planning/supply chain; Experience with Demand Planning software systems
  • APICS preferred   
  • Expertise in Demand Planning and Forecasting (in pet food industry or CPG preferred but optional)
  • Thorough understanding of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) or Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process
  • Strong understanding of trade inventory modeling & demand forecast principles
  • Advanced numerate, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Versed with best-in-class ERP systems and other useful platforms (Excel & Access)
  • Demonstrated competencies in initiative, planning, strategic thinking, problem solving, decision making, and delivering results
  • Ability to manage and direct internal and external resources
  • Ability to interact with internal customers at all levels and build rapport
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills required
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects
