Job Summary
 
Berry Aviation, a growing aviation services company, is seeking an experienced and resourceful Director, Business Development - Government Services to develop and implement growth opportunities, as the senior business development team leader.  Target opportunities will be focused within mobility and transport services, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), and emerging markets for Department of Defense (DOD), non-DOD government entities, and potential clients requiring unique, specialized solutions.   We’re searching for a seasoned executive-level leader and professional with a solid track record of creating long-term value for organizations via market entry and organizational development.  That candidate is customer-focused and understands how to leverage real data to capitalize on business trends and opportunities.  Candidates should have strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to lead and manage a diverse team with global reach in a dynamic industry landscape.  Successful applicants must also be willing to travel domestic and abroad.
 
Responsibilities
  • Support management and execution of growth plans, strategies, and capture initiatives with regards to both international and domestic new business growth opportunities, as well as re-compete and follow-on opportunities
  • Leads the strategic planning process and ensures that appropriate analysis is conducted to include competitive market analysis, internal review of strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
  • Leads a matrixed business development capture team able to execute the vision and strategy, goals and objectives
  • Ensures business processes and tools are executed for the capture process, strategy development and government compliance requirements
  • Maintain pipeline projections of objectives to meet or exceed annual operating goals
  • Manages external interface with customers and engages the customer community to understand emerging requirements and concerns for current programs
  • Effectively shapes customer requirements within the business lines and applicable constituencies
  • Establishes and maintains customer, internal, and cross division communications and coordination
  • Establishes requirements for marketing and branding material and related collateral including advertising campaigns
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related technical field is required.  Master’s degree Preferred.
  • Ten plus years of progressive executive-level leadership experience in business development, program management, or demonstrated leadership in DOD or non-DOD government organization
  • Knowledge of government procurement process and requirements generation
  • Technical expertise should include knowledge/experience with mobility and transport programs, ISR, or specialized aviation requirements.
  • Proven experience in successfully developing strategy and leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Possess exceptional leadership skills to develop, organize and execute capture activities
  • Possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills to develop business case and competitive analysis
  • Possess ability to organize and manage several simultaneous activities successfully
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with ability to be self-sufficient in individual duties/roles
  • Must have demonstrated capability for all levels of oral and written communication; excellent analytical, presentation, and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to gain customer and leadership support
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship
