San Marcos TX is responsible for the delivery of world-class training to the employees of the BAI Maintenance department and related contract personnel. The incumbent will teach, educate and coach BAI’s Maintenance Training Program and related directed courses including, but not limited to: 14 CFR part 135, 145, and 91, Safety, Fire Training, Human Factors, Drug and Alcohol, HAZMAT Familiarization, Basic Aircraft Movement, Jacking of Aircraft, Suspected Unapproved Parts, General Maintenance Manual, Forms, Deferred Maintenance, Maintenance Time & Limitation Manuals, aircraft familiarization, Receiving Inspector, Airworthiness release, and engine start/taxi/run. Additional curriculum and material may be required. This role is also expected to develop and maintain related course-ware, training aids, and related administrative processes and procedures.
 
Reports administratively and functionally to the Manager of Quality.
 
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
  1. Plan, deliver, present, review and test required maintenance training program courses in accordance with FAA guidance and company policy
  2. Originate, analyze, update and maintain course-ware to support company maintenance training program
  3. Identify and initiate training requirements based upon applicable regulatory requirements found in (but not limited to) 14 CFR 23, 25, 35, 43, 65, 91, 135 and 145.
  4. Conceives, develops and fields new training content based upon end-user inputs, maintenance standards, performance feedback, student needs and curriculum alignment
  5. Advises Director of Maintenance on technical and soft skills for screening of new hires
  6. Coordinates with training operations and program management to ensure line-of-business training requirements and schedules are met
  7. Serve subject matter expert and liaison and between students, director of training and company leadership on training issues
  8. Monitors, records, reports and remediates student performance in accordance with the company maintenance training program
  9. Acts as liaison to government oversight agencies and external providers of training products/services for maintenance training-related matters
  10. Other Projects and duties as assigned by Maintenance QA and/or Director of Training
 
 
- FAA certified A & P Mechanic
- 5+ years as FAA certified A & P Mechanic desired
- 3+ years of previous classroom instructor experience desired
- Previous 14 CFR 135 and 145 maintenance experience highly desired
- Experience grading and evaluating students highly desired
- 3+ years of adult curriculum design desired
- Experience with distance learning capabilities and programs desired
 
Minimum education level to perform essential functions of the job:
- High school diploma
- FAA A&P Certification
 
Unique skills or certifications needed to perform essential functions of the job:
  • Public speaking and teaching
  • Computer skills to include PowerPoint, Excel, and on-line video meeting
  • Curriculum design
  • Experience conducting aviation-specific research and authoring and editing both controlled and uncontrolled documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to become proficient in the operation of various custom software applications
