Fixed Wing Pilot in Command (DHC-8/ KA 300) Lead:
 
PURPOSE:
Serve as Pilot in Command on assigned aircraft (DHC-8/KA300) for a DOD contract in various OCONUS locations, providing Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) services in support of the government client in an austere environment.
 
Incumbent will be responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all flight operations as assigned by the customer, including but not limited to the following:
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Act as the Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) and be the principle advisor of all safety related matters.
  2. Act as the main POC to the government customer for all safety of flight matters, and act as the Contractor’s Requesting Official (CRO).
  3. Conduct and certify each flight crew member in Initial Operating Experience (IOE) in accordance with standards dictated by the US government customer.
  4. Plan flights as assigned and obtains information regarding purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures and special instructions
  5. Ensure proper preparation of flight plans, considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise control data, airport facilities and navigational aids
  6. Ensure all flights are released in accordance with DCMA 8210.1C/AR 95-20 and all of the necessary documentation is aboard the aircraft for legal and safe completion of each flight
  7. Ensure that required airworthiness inspections have been accomplished and any previous discrepancies have been corrected or properly deferred in accordance with the MEL for that aircraft (as applicable)
  8. Complete the aircraft preflight inspection and performs preflight preparation to include a risk assessment for each flight conducted.
  9. Complete each flight as assigned by the company/customer, strictly adhering to schedules, routes of flight and load manifests.
  10. Ensure that all crew members are practicing CRM and are fully briefed on the particulars for each flight and any changes to original flight plans, passenger or cargo loads or condition of the aircraft and/or operating environment.
  11. Communicate routinely with on site management personnel, Chief Pilot and Program Manager on any issues pertaining to safety of flight, maintenance of aircraft, life support, customer concerns or personnel issues.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Requirements:
 
Preferred:
Have at least one year of experience as an aircraft captain type rated in a DHC-8 or King Air 300 series aircraft.
Have at least one year of Government contracting experience in an OCONUS austere environments/location
 
 
Education Requirements:
Required: High School diploma
Preferred: Undergraduate degree, 2+ years’ experience as an Aviation Safety Office/Chief Pilot/Asst. Chief Pilot/Lead Pilot supervising teams of aviation professionals
 
 
Unique skills or certifications:
1. Commercial Pilot certificate with appropriate category and class rating, and appropriate type rating for the aircraft being operated.
2. Second class medical certificate
3. 1,500 hours total time. 500 multi-engine turbine-time.
4. Preferred: Experience in ISR flight operations
5. Preferred: Experience in OCONUS operations
6. Preferred: Experience with SOF aviation operations
6. Minimum: Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security clearance at the Top-Secret level (U.S. citizenship required) Preferred: Holds a current and active U.S. Security clearance at the Top-Secret level (U.S. citizenship required).
 
 
Physical requirements of the job:
Incumbent is required to: be able to lift a minimum of 50 Lbs., perform aircraft piloting duties for up to 10 hours a day, be exposed to a wide variety of weather conditions while working outside including but not limited to extreme heat, cold and adverse weather conditions.
