We offer our customers complete solutions that represent a significant improvement in their ability to measure, control and optimize their processes to minimize cost and maximize their product’s value. T-Gauge is a revolutionary multi-layer gauge for process control within industrial applications. With a single reflection sensor, T-Gauge can measure single and multi-layer thickness, density and delamination. It provides online control of the manufacture of webs, sheets, pipes, tubes, molded components and rigid or flexible barrier packaging.  In addition to process control, the system can be used for non-destructive testing (NDT) using our handheld accessories, and research, using our imaging and spectroscopy configurations.
We are seeking an Application Engineer to assist with pre- and post-sales support.  This is an entry level position.  The Applications Engineer will be responsible for testing and analysis of customer samples for feasibility and performance of our terahertz equipment.  With increasing familiarity and experience with our product line the Applications Engineer may assist with customer training, field trials of the developed applications, and the installation and/or minor servicing of gauging solutions at the customer’s facility. The Application Engineer will provide remote hardware/software support to customers located within the United States.  Remote and onsite services/support will include install, repair and troubleshooting of terahertz gauging software and equipment found within an industrial environment.  As a small organization there are times when other tasks to support the company may become appropriate.

TeraMetrix is a vertically integrated company able to design, manufacture, and support its products on behalf of the customers.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Perform data collection and analysis of customer samples and application development.
  • Participate in the development of new terahertz application strategies to accomplish customer measurements.
  • Maintain organization of customer samples and test data for easy retrieval.
  • Maintain the Application Development lab in a neat and orderly state.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills. Must be self-starter and work well independently and within a team.
  • Manage and perform assigned service to new and existing equipment; provide proper documentation of the process throughout the service call from start to finish.
  • Read data logs, and other files to troubleshoot issues.
  • Support test and validation with duplicating field issues to support software & hardware for root cause analysis.
  • Drive feedback into process to ensure engineering designs account to fix field issues.
  • Must have schedule flexibility and willingness to work some weekends, evenings, and overtime if needed.
  • Able to travel when necessary, estimated not more than 10% of time.
  • Train Value Added Resellers, Distributors, and end customers on operation of terahertz products.
  • Support user manual development.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in related technical field (Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, etc.).
  2. Experience with data analysis software (e.g. Excel, Origin, MiniTab, etc.)
  3. Familiar with data collection in a laboratory environment
  4. Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to troubleshoot equipment configuration issues.
  5. Must be able to take direction, plan, and complete projects with minimal supervision.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  7. Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observes results and makes corrections.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  9. Experience with fiber optics a plus.
  10. Experience with optical alignment a plus.
  11. Experience with pulsed terahertz systems a plus.
  12. Experience with Windows IP connections a plus.
  13. Must be able to handle equipment and/or product weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  1. Light industrial laboratory and production environment with little exposure to noise, dust, dirt, temperature and the like.
  2. Must be capable of lifting equipment up to 50lbs.
