The Production Control Manager schedules the activities of the plant floor and plans, schedules and coordinates production activities to fill sales orders, meet inventory requirements and deliver manufactured products in a timely manner.  The Production Control Manager shall possess a Bachelor’s degree in a business, science or engineering related field of study or prior relevant business management experience in a manufacturing company.  The Production Control Manager shall have a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory and/or managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.  Minimum skills, knowledge and ability requirements include:
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all steel manufacturing methods, techniques and related equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Must be and expert in welding processes.
  • Must have complete knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations.
  • Must be highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Will be computer literate, particularly in shop floor control, production planning and inventory control applications.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
List the duties and responsibilities required of this job position; include applicable leadership responsibilities.
  • Develops and communicates the production schedule for all customer sales orders and stock orders.
  • Works closely with the sales force to communicate product availability and anticipated delivery times.
  • Works closely with the sales force to insure that product drawings are completed and approved on a timely basis.
  • Works closely with the Logistics Manager to insure that customer orders are shipped on a timely basis.
  • Works closely with the Billing Clerk to insure that customer billing is completed in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Manages the CAD Designer and Draftsman to insure that all production orders have accurate supporting drawings and that drawings of stock products are accurate.
  • Coordinates and conducts semi-annual tag inventory of finished tanks.
  • Assists Plant Director in managing production operations and related supporting functions.
  • Manages special projects as directed by Director of Operations.
  • Performs other duties as required by management.
