Various Machine Operators at Sofidel in Haines City

The North American Headquarters for Sofidel is in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania with plants operating in 7 states (Florida, Wisconsin, Nevada, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Mississippi) as a tissue paper manufacturer for Consumer and Away-from-Home products.

We are currently looking for 3 Core Machine Operators and 1 Robot Operator for our Haines City facility.

Core Machine Operators support the Rewinder Operators and Converting Production Supervisor by operating core winding equipment to meet the production demand of the plant in a safe way, complying with all company safety policies and ensuring that all cores manufactured meet specification and achieve superior quality and performance standards. Continuously supports Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy.

Robot Operators perform duties to operate machinery, produce finished product and package for shipping, while complying with instructions and prescribed routines, methods or procedures and making minor decisions. Continuously supports Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy.

Must be able to work a rotating shifts in a hot environment

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Core Operator:

  • Work from schedules, methods sheets, and inventory levels to determine the type and amount of cores to build during shift.
  • Obtain core material and move to work station. Use hoist to position material on hub and secure in position on machine and thread material through machine segments. Check levels of glue and oil for operation and report the need for replenishment.
  • Set and adjust speeds and cut length based on type of core and to ensure proper lamination of materials. Report the need for additional raw materials to maintain production.
  • Determine the thickness and finish of the core from the work order and corresponding product. Quality check core to ensure product is within specifications needed.
  • Arrange finished cores for pick up. Stack finished product to allow for transport to production area

Robot Operator:

  • Supports Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.
  • Work from written order that give information such as to production type, material and how it is palletized.
  • Determine how much per shift from work order. Enter start, finish, quantity, and document production.
  • Perform quality check. Bag-out measurement at prescribed intervals. Measure first piece to ensure proper fold length. Determine overall quality of product.
  • Change over parent role. Position shaft through core and slide adapters into place to hold material in position. Raise shaft into operating position.
  • Load material for semi-automatic packaging. Thread material through converter to begin operation.
  • Set mechanism to specified count and manually package napkins into carton and into box. Seal bag and seal corrugated box. Stack onto pallets in accordance with work order.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-2 years manufacturing experience or some combination of education/experience

Required:

1-2 years manufacturing experience
