Job Requirements: 
 
The Instrument man’s primary function is to assist Party Chief with survey operations. The Instrument man is responsible for total station setup and operating electronic data collectors.   All project survey points must be retained for company records and archived.  In addition the Instrument Man will assist with multiple project sites, safety for himself and others around him.  The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:
 
  • Assist in the Survey Layout operation
  • Experience using Total Stations and /or GPS equipment
  • Recording data points into a surveyor’s logbook
  • Completing all tasks assigned by Supervisors
  • Using hand held tools for various tasks
  • Understanding project blueprints
  • Calculating information using basic math skills
  • Operating a company vehicle
 
The above listed duties require periods of standing, walking, stooping and bending. Employee must be able to climb ladders at times and work at a height above 6 feet. The position requires use of a computer and/or electronics. Position requires periodic lifting of up to 50 pounds. The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
