Position/Title: Senior Product Manager
Reports to: Vice President, Marketing
Optimer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Manager of Marketing to develop and implement the U.S. marketing plans for a new anti-infective drug recently approved by the FDA. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will assist in the development of the Brand plan and it execution (personal and non-personal promotions). In addition, you will work closely with Medical Affairs to develop the KOL engagement plan, unbranded professional educational campaign and Promotional Medical Education Speaker program for this innovative compound. Additional responsibilities include sales materials development, access/reimbursement initiatives, budgeting, and tracking of plan against key performance indicators. It is expected that you will perform all responsibilities following the highest ethical standards, including FDA guidelines and best practices for the pharmaceutical industry. This is a high profile role in a relatively small marketing group, so you will wear a lot of hats in this assignment, as opposed to similar positions in big Pharma.
Responsibilities / Duties:
Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA or other related graduate-level degree is preferred.
5+ years of pharmaceutical company experience with at least 3 years of product management level marketing experience.
Experience in the development of marketing strategies and tactical plans supporting an anti-infective product and experience in the hospital and LTC/SNF channels is highly preferred.
Deep understanding of today’s hospital market with awareness of trends in quality, health economics and Joint Commission Initiatives.
Strong analytical skills and proven strategic agility to succeed in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills managing cross-functional teams.
Business travel (~ 20%), by air or car, is required for regular internal and external business meetings.
