CNC Machinist Trainee - Second Shift
Superior Die, Tool & Machine Co. is a family-owned manufacturer of Stamping Dies, Sheet Metal Stampings and Machining services. We provide machining services throughout the Midwest for all types of machining work. We have two plants located in Columbus, Ohio servicing the automotive, agriculture and heavy truck industries. We have over 100-years of providing cost-effective solutions to our customers in our manufacturing operations.
We are currently seeking a CNC Machinist Trainee for our second (2nd) shift. Flexibility and the willingness to work overtime is a must.
Sets up and operates all CNC/Manually controlled Mills/Lathes/EDMs to machine work-pieces to specifications by performing the following duties.
  • Reviews and performs setups of work pieces to correctly achieve machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work-piece.
  • Assembles cutting tools in tool-holders and positions tool-holders in machine spindles and/or tool changer magazines as required.
  • Operates fork lift trucks and overhead cranes.
  • Manually program CNC controllers through manual data input, and/or load CAM generated NC programs through network or data card transfer.
  • Manipulates machine controls to setup cutting tools and machine work pieces through CNC operation.
  • Measures work-piece for conformance to specifications.
  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Adjusts/changes machine feeds, speeds, and cutters to machine parts according to specifications.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic mathematical skills including use of basic math, geometry and trigonometry, ability to convert fractions to decimals, understanding of metric to English conversions
  • Prior work experience or training in blueprint reading,,
  • Good attention to detail
  • Some experience with machines (mills & machining centers), controls and tool-holding systems.
  • Ideally, candidates will have some experience with G-Code, feeds and speeds, tapping and good computer skills.
