Qualifications

Desired Skills and Experience

SHP medical professionals are needed to perform quality patient care services for an underserved population.

We are looking for a responsible licensed care giver to utilize their counseling skills for a diverse patient group. The right candidate will have the following:

  • Graduate of a program in psychology/counseling/social work/nursing program and continuous experience working in an acute mental health care setting.
  • Competence in performance of the following mental health services: crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care and psychiatric nursing care.
  • Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing patient mental health assessments and providing appropriate follow through treatment.


In a secure jail medical unit, you will deliver patient mental health care, assess suicidality, establish mental health plans and work under the boundaries of State Scope of Practice and Guidelines, and Physician/Provider(s).

Providing and accepting referrals from outside mental health agencies and facilities will be a key part of your position as well.

You should have competence in performing emergency intervention, mental health assessment, critical thinking, and documentation skills.

Monitoring patient progress and working with the Providers will round out a quality health care program performed on-site – one you can be proud to be a part of.
