Strategic Account Manager, Western/Southern Europe

This position offers the right candidate the opportunity to grow and manage an international business with the resources of a burgeoning and successful company. The Strategic Account Manager will drive Natera's expansion in major markets in Western and Southern Europe. The primary responsibilities are to 1) recruit and educate key opinion leaders from the OBGYN and genetics communities, 2) source, close and implement deals with clinical laboratory partners and top medical centers, 3) design and execute local marketing and product launch programs in conjunction with the marketing department, 4) identify regional pockets with the highest growth potential and execute accordingly.
The Strategic Account Manager will become an expert in Natera's technology and service offerings and be able to represent the company and its business interests at the highest levels: with top physicians and key opinion leaders, lab directors and CEOs of laboratory companies. Additionally, the Strategic Account Manager will become an expert in market-specific environments like local insurance systems, regulatory frameworks, genetic testing laws, competitive landscapes, influential medical societies, etc. This is a front line sales and business development role requiring about 50-60% travel. This is also a major leadership role within the company that may lead to future management opportunities.
Desired Skills & Experience:
The ideal candidate has experience developing key opinion leaders and driving topline revenue growth working through channel partners or independently for a healthcare product or service in the territory. However, successful candidates have come from a variety of other backgrounds and experience levels: a savvy sales & marketing professional, a tenacious management consultant or investment banker, accomplished entrepreneur, or successful business development expert might possess the right 'DNA' for this role. A track record of closing deals and building client relationships at the highest levels, and/or experience successfully launching a new product or service in a startup environment will help you get our attention. An MBA or PhD from a top-ranked school is preferred.
MBA or PhD preferred
Experience in client-facing roles like sales, management consulting, and/or deal-making roles like business development or private equity/venture capital investing
Experience and/or desire to work in the healthcare industry, ideally developing local KOLs
International business or cross-cultural experience, ability to speak relevant foreign languages, and desire for international travel
Very strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Strong analytical ability, comfort with science and numbers
Very strong writing skills

Natera develops leading genetic tests that help families have healthy children. The company has a CLIA-certified laboratory in California and unique portfolio of technologies that combines expertise in molecular biology with advanced statistical techniques. These techniques enable Natera to analyze tiny quantities of DNA more accurately than anyone else in the world, primarily serving OBGYN physicians and their patients.
The team consists of about 300 statisticians, geneticists, doctors, laboratory technicians and software engineers from top-tier universities. Our technology has been funded by six grants from the National Institute of Health and a group of private investors led by Sequoia Capital. Natera is already providing genetic testing services to over 500 OBGYN practices, IVF centers, and dozens of partner laboratories in over 25 countries worldwide.
