The Digital Marketing Manager (DMM) leads and drives Digital Marketing across all channels. This position provides thought-leadership congruent with Gaia’s core values and voice. The DMM creates and executes authentic, meaningful digital content and engagement.

Collaborating with cross functional teams, the DMM devises and executes Gaia’s online strategies, generating brand awareness, creating consumer engagement, advocating product, converting brand adoption and measuring social ROI. The DMM develops, implements and tracks results (utilizing quantitative and qualitative methods) to optimize Gaia’s digital marketing presence across all digital channels. 

The DMM will identify trends and insights to optimize reach based on those insights. The DMM is responsible for Gaia’s digital presence including Marketing database, email, website, social media, Gaia blog, display promotion and SEO/SEM. This includes ownership and actions related to social media, online advertising, eNewsletters, and Gaia Herbs eCommerce presence. 

Major Responsibilities: 

Social Media
  • Guided by the corporate marketing plan and brand/product objectives, the DMM will develop, implement and monitor creative yet strategic social media marketing campaigns that align to business goals 
  • Create and test innovative content that increases engagement over multiple platforms, enabling social media brand building
  • Leverage analytics and insights to inform strategy and create new tactics that drive engagement in social channels and/or online sales transaction volume of Gaia eCommerce site
  • Provide a high volume of regular posts and required responses across Gaia’s core social media platforms – including yet not limited to, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, blogs, etc. – seeding content outlined in editorial calendars as well as that which addresses relevant brand, product or consumer trends
  • Execute unique and timely promotional campaigns featuring incentives to join our social communities
  • Develop benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
  • Outline requirements for content creation and design elements; may include writing of editorial content or delegating it to other stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Develop and implement online advertising strategies for all social channels
  • Manage Google Adwords, Facebook, Twitter, and other advertising campaigns and report on successes
  • Collaborate with the marketing team, designers and developers to ensure that the design and technical elements of all campaigns and online ads are executed on time and within scope 
  • Implement a proactive strategy for capturing customer online reviews; monitor online reviews and ratings and respond accordingly (directly or refer to other subject matter experts)
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in the social communities and figure out ways to grow the distribution of content, with the goal of growing volume of links to Gaia’s content to drive up target audiences
  • Watch relevant industry benchmarks and trends; assess Gaia’s relative performance on an ongoing basis; identify gaps and areas of opportunity for improvement; recommend direction for investment and implementation
  • Share social media best practice insights with Marketing team members so they can enhance their plans and programs through digital activities
  • Make recommendations for social media investment as part of the annual budget process

Digital Marketing Execution
  • Advise on broader Digital Marketing campaigns that integrate with the company’s existing and future initiatives
  • Plan and execute Digital Marketing tactics, including, but not limited to: development of Gaia Herbs blog, email blasts, landing pages, social platform integration, online advertising campaigns, content updates, and influencer campaigns

Ecommerce Implementation
  • In conjunction with key internal stakeholders, develop the marketing schedule and promotion tactics for the Gaia online store
  • Manage online sales email blasts, acting as the liaison with our eCommerce partner
  • Monitor and report on monthly online sales trends and recommend shifts in strategies in order to capitalize on key learnings

eNewsletter Communications
  • Develop an editorial content plan for the monthly Gaia Herbs eNewsletter (retail website); engage Product Management and Sales Leadership in the development and approval of content plan
  • Manage the use and integration of Constant Contact and/or any other eMail newsletter list tools
  • Manage the eNewsletter list, including growth and retention
  • Retain a content library to provide easy access to the historical content and performance of each monthly eNewsletter

Skill Set: 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Gaia’s values and voice 
  • BS or equivalent in marketing, communications, public relations, or journalism
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key social media platforms (Facebook, twitter, Pinterest, Instagram blogs, online forums, etc.), tools and techniques, and the skill to leverage these assets effectively (minimum experience of 3 years in social media and/or community management)
  • Understanding of contesting, promotions and partner integrations and how and where to use them to drive engagement
  • Practical understanding of social media metrics and reporting
  • In-depth knowledge of content management systems
  • A working knowledge of ethical SEO principles and how they relate to social search
  • Proficient at implementing and managing a content marketing strategy
  • The ability to cultivate and nurture online communities 
  • Approachable and confident in interpersonal skills, providing a comfortable platform for influencer relationships to develop
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Quick learner with a willingness to experiment
  • The ability to demonstrate creative and strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
  • The ability to identify potential issues and apply customer service and relationship management principles to manage their resolution
