HX5 is seeking qualified applicants to serve as the Network Analyst at Ft Belvoir, Virginia.
 
The Network Analyst on the Network Operations Team for the IRES program supports the Missile Defense Agency at National Capitol Region, Fort Belvoir, VA. The primary duties include operations and maintenance of the MDA general service network infrastructure, primarily troubleshooting and managing configurations on network routers, switches, military and network encryption technologies, and firewalls.
 
They will perform network and firewall engineering, monitoring and administration functions as required, provide initial analysis and troubleshooting on issues identified with network monitoring tools, as well as provide troubleshooting support to end users on the network and other general networking tasks.
 
Additional responsibilities include:
  • generating and providing status reports
  • provide network anomaly detection, analysis, troubleshooting, and repair
  • develop engineering documentation and redlines as needed to support network maintenance actions, engineering changes/upgrades, and security vulnerability mitigation 
 
This position may work off hours or on call as required.
 
Experience and Knowledge
 
  • A high-school diploma plus 12 years of general experience or an associate’s degree and 10 years of general experience or a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of general experience
  • Requires 6 years of relevant experience in related field
  • Must have completed Security+ certification and be enrolled in Continuing Education (CE) or other equivalent to meet DoD 8570.1-M requirements by date of start
  • Must have a current DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret
  • Must have at least 6 years of applicable experience with Cisco routers, switches, and networking (LAN/WAN) technologies
  • Must have experience following documented engineering processes and procedures
  • Must be able to travel 10%; this may include air travel
 
*Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance by time of start
**Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation
 
 
 
 
Desired:
 
  • Cisco CCNA Certification
  • Experience with Network firewalls and KVM switches
  • Experience with TCP/IP, UDP Multicast, OSPF, and various WAN network mediums, legacy network systems such as SONET, LightWave ATM, and TDM multiplexer network timing systems
  • Experience in supporting environments for an "operational network", to include tech-control environments, crypto maintenance, COMSEC, or systems administration
  • Proficient working with DISA, local and long-haul circuit vendors
  • Strong technical and hands-on experience in all of the following:
    • Various protocols for data transmission (RS-232, RS-530, T1, T3, ESF, D4, B8ZS, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192)
    • OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) 7-layer model and the various facets of data transmission between any two points in a network
    • DSX equipment panels and associated wiring Fiber optics cabling, connectors and termination techniques, metallic cabling, connectors and termination techniques
