HX5 is seeking a Network Defense Analyst in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the IRES contract at Schriever AFB, CO.  This position requires a junior Network Defense & Incident Response Analyst to conduct intrusion detection and incident response on customer networks and maintain situational awareness of enterprise-wide cyber security.
The responsibilities of the person in this role include reviewing event logs from network security devices (e.g., network and host-based security systems, firewalls, routers, switches, etc.) and mission critical servers for indicators of compromise and known attack patterns. They will be involved in drafting initial computer network defense (CND) alert and notification messages to warn customers of threats. S/He will review data originating from or reflecting status of ongoing intrusions or cyber security incidents and document the findings according to established procedures. They will review vulnerabilities against known exploits that do not have vendor provided mitigation or remediation action in enterprise cyber-threat environment.
S/He will assist in the response to cybersecurity incidents, including collecting details utilizing internal and external data management systems. Under direct supervision, conduct data gathering for digital forensic analysis, collect potential evidence of compromised systems. They will document findings and preserve forensic chain of custody for evidence when required. This person will also support the review and update of CND procedures, processes, manuals, and other documentation.
Education and Skills:
- AS degree plus 6 years of experience with servers, routers, firewalls; Bachelor’s degree in IT, cybersecurity or related discipline preferred
- Certifications and additional education may be substituted for experience.
- Must have a current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, GCED, GCIH, CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate CISSP), SSCP)
- Must be able to obtain a DoD 8570.01-M CSSP Analyst and Incident Responder certification(s)
- Experience with most MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts in 24x7 operational environment and respond quickly to emergencies as needed; must be willing to travel 25%, including air travel
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance, and to be qualified, candidate must have an active DoD Secret security clearance to start
Desired Requirements:
- Experience with security analysis and solutions in a WAN/LAN environment
- Experience with DoD DCO/CSSP, network, and system security policies and procedures
- Experience with using SIEM tools, ArcSight preferred
- Experience with other CND tools/applications, such as Network Security Manager, Bluecoat, Barracuda.
- GCIA, GCIH, or GCFA certified
Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
