Job duties:
  • Housekeeper assures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner
  • Housekeeper follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
  • Housekeeper follows established Universal Precautions when performing housekeeping procedures
  • Housekeeper cleans, washes, sanitizes, and polishes bathroom fixtures
  • Housekeeper cleans drinking fountains and public areas
  • Housekeeper cleans windows and mirrors
  • Housekeeper cleans floors, which includes sweeping, dusting, damp or wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting
  • Housekeeper uses proper safety signs when performing floor work
  • Housekeeper cleans walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, or deodorizing
  • Housekeeper removes dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces by using proper cleaning solutions
  • Housekeeper cleans hallways, stairways, and elevators
  • Housekeeper discards waste and trash into proper containers and relines trash receptacles with plastic liners
  • Housekeeper changes bed linens and exchanges bathroom towels
  • Housekeeper reports all hazardous conditions or equipment to the Housekeeping Manager
  • Housekeeper reports all unusual resident activity, which might affect the safety or security of other residents, to the Housekeeping Manager
  • Housekeeper assures that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift
  • Housekeeper reports burned out light bulbs and exit lights to the Housekeeping Manager
  • Housekeeper follows assigned work and cleaning schedule as closely as practical
  • Maintains an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies on assigned cleaning cart
  • If assigned to the Health Pavilion, Housekeeper coordinates daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in member rooms and Health Pavilion Commons
  • Maintains confidentiality of residents’ PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records information as well. This position is classified as a level 5 in the ePhi Access Group levels
  • Minimum 8th grade education; high school degree or equivalent is preferred
  • Six months to one year of practical experience
  • Must be able to read and understand printed instructions for the use of chemicals and cleaning agents
  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Able to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions
  • This individual will need to be empathetic, energetic, and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population
  • All applicants must successfully pass a drug screen and Level II background check
